Seeds of Life
A VR Game I directed with the wonderful Documentary Filmmaker Christine Saab.
Our ambition was to explore the interconnectedness of nature.
The player starts as a little seed deep underground and through the mycelium network and roots from other trees they are helped to grow and emerge out of the earth.
We wanted the game to be playable by anyone no matter what physical ability they had as a game about interconnectedness that was only playable by a hand full of people felt wrong. That meant that we designed the game in two modes; one was to have a version playable with no controllers at all, which was a challenge using Metas early exploration in controllerless VR. Many games avoided it as it caused headaches in the coding and design as there is so much that can go wrong. The other version we made was just using head movement and vision.
This being mine and Christines first time developing a VR game we struggled to fully achieve the vision we had for the game, but it was a great lesson in game making and the restrictions you run into creating visuals when you are limited in the amount of detail.
